The Transatlantic Slave Trade In Mexico

  • Indigenous people were killed or died from European disease and that’s when they decided to bring in Africans (Palmer). During this time people from the land were basically Murdered due to the bad environment being spread around. At the time of the trade they brought over 200,000 Africans into the country for hard work in labor. These slaves created ways to cope with the bad condition they work in.

Resistance to Slavery

In Mexico, many slaves ran away to avoid being in slavery. Only a few with still on land but most got sent away.They would often spread the word about the issues going on as a way of giving a warning. African americans were sent in ships to avoid the issue getting bigger. Freedom also allowed Africans to make their own town, till this day it's a symbol of black in Mexico (Palmer). - African Americans brought their culture to Mexico which was festival events which till this day still exist. Using string instruments was a part of music as part of the African Heritage for dances.
